It's that time of year again for making your 1000'th draft for the upcoming FPL 21/22 season. Once more we bring you the stats for this upcoming season's 'FPL new boys' - at the bottom of this post you can see all the players coming up into the premier league and their stats from last season.
Everybody knows the value of finding differential players to pad out your squad, and there is no better pool of players to find those gems than from the FPL new boys coming into the league from last year's Championship.
So without further ado, let's take a look at our top 5 picks from the FPL new boys
Ivan Toney - Brentford - 6.5m
We may as well start with the obvious pick, Brentford's powerful target man Ivan Toney - he simply cannot be overlooked, and clearly isn't with 38.4% Ownership. His high ownership does take away a little from his differential potential, but his stats from last season are pretty special with 32 (THIRTY TWO!) goals, and 10 assists.
With his stats and at just £6.5m he's a great option to have in your team, he will be key to any success Brentford may have in the Premiership next season - can you afford not to have him?!
Emiliano Buendía - Norwich (Now at Aston Villa) - £6.5m
The Argentine midfielder who recently completed a £35m move to Aston Villa is another one who's stats jump out at you - knocking up 15 goals and 15 assists. How much of a role he will play at Villa remains to be seen, but if the rumours of a Grealish move to Man City are true then I would fully expect Buendia to be a regular starter and at the heart of Villa’s midfield. Even if Jack stays at villa, with his price tag he should be a regular starter for Villa.
Sergi Canós Tenes - Brentford - £5.5m
The attacking minded Brentford midfielder could be a good differential. Despite the numbers not being as impressive as Buendia they are still solid stats for a midfielder with 7 assists and 9 goals. At just £5.5m and ownership under 1% Canos is definitely worth consideration for your midfield.
Ismaïla Sarr - Watford - £6m
Ismaïla Sarr has previous Premier League experience having played for Watford in the 2019/2020 season where he scored 5 goals and assisted 4. Last season in the Championship he scored 13 goals which is impressive for a midfielder, he also assisted 4. Two of Sarr’s 13 goals were from the penalty spot - which shows that he's in the mix as Watford spot kick taker.
Teemu Pukki - Norwich - £6m
Another 'tried and tested' option is Pukki from Norwich who netted 13 times in their 2019/2020 season. Last season the Finnish striker scored 26 goals, 5 of those from the penalty spot. There is no doubt he's their main penalty taker and one of the first names on the team sheet.
That's just a quick snapshot of some of the players who jumped out for me, but as we always do, we give you the data (in the table below), and let you interpret those numbers however you want to get your own conclusions.
